CCSU & Travelers Partner for
Student Success

The University recently announced a new education partnership with The Travelers Companies, Inc. Through the Travelers EDGE (Empowering Dreams for Graduation and Employment) program, CCSU is receiving a $130,000 grant to benefit underrepresented students in the Greater Hartford area who are interested in pursuing careers in the insurance and financial services industries. CCSU Blue Devils NEC Co-Champs
|
|

|
|
The Blue Devil football team became co-champions of the Northeast Conference
title with a 23-13 home victory
over St. Francis (PA). The win is
the 14th straight at home for CCSU,
the third-longest home win streak
in the country. The Blue Devils
finished the year 8-3 overall and
7-1 in league play. The title
is the fourth for the Blue Devils
since the 2004 season, the most
of any team in the NEC. For more,

CCSU Students Win Travelers IT Case
Competition
|
|
A team of CCSU
students--Christopher Albert, Andrew
Brucker, Derrick Karle and Kristina
Larsen--placed first in the annual
Travelers IT Case Competition, on
November 17, 2010. The CCSU team
bested second-place UConn and third-
place Worcester Polytechnic Institute.
The CCSU team won $1000. Other teams
that competed represented the University
of Minnesota (Carlson School of
Management), and Quinnipiac University.

National Accreditation News
|
|
The School of Education and Professional
Studies at Central has earned accreditation
for another five years from the National
Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education
(NCATE). This stamp of approval signifies
that CCSU’s undergraduate- and graduate-level
teacher preparation programs have met all
standards required by NCATE, which serves
as the national accrediting body for academic
programs that prepare professionals for
P-12 jobs in education settings. For more
on this, please click here. In the School of Engineering & Technology, four undergraduate programs have received the highest recognition of quality assurance. The BS in Mechanical Engineering programs as been awarded professional accreditation, for the first time, by the Accreditation Board for Engineering & Technology (ABET). The Technology Accreditation Commission of ABET accredited the School's programs in civil engineering technology, manufacturing engineering technology, and mechanical engineering technology. Cruise Alaska! Alumni Association
Offers Exciting Cruise with Bargains

The CCSU Alumni Association is sponsoring
a vista-filled cruise along the coastline
of Alaska. Waypoints include: Vancouver,
Inside Passage, Ketchikan, Icy Strait Point,
Hubbard Glacier, Kodiak, Sitka, and Wrangell.
