This is a proposal for the creation of an ad hoc committee charged with examining the status of General Education at CCSU. The committee will first report to the Faculty Senate by 7 February whether there is a need and/or desire to redesign the General Education program at CCSU. If the committee reports back in the affirmative, then the committee will be charged with designing a General Education program that takes into account the needs of our students, as well as our faculty resources; the new design should attempt to be cost neutral. The committee should bring the design to the General Education Subcommittee of the Curriculum Committee and the Curriculum Committee, so that it can come before the Faculty Senate by 23 April 2012. Once the committee presents a design accepted by the Faculty Senate, it will dissolve and be replaced by a committee charged with the task of implementing the new General Education design. The following will be asked to serve on this committee:
- Robert Wolff (A&S, History)
- Mary Anne Nunn (A&S, English)
- Tim Reagan (SEPS, Teacher Education)
- Olga Petkova (SOB, MIS)
- Paul Resetarits (SET, Manufacturing and Construction Management)
- Thomas Burkholder (A&S, Chemistry and former chair of Curriculum Committee)
- Rachel Siporin (A&S, Art)
