Office of the Vice President for Student Affairs
Dr. Laura Tordenti, Vice President for Student Affairs
The Office of the Vice President for Student Affairs provides leadership to the departments within the Division of Student Affairs to maximize student learning and development and to provide a safe and enriching co-curricular environment. Our staff serves as a resource for questions regarding university policies and procedures and refers students and others to the appropriate office for more information or problem resolution. We are committed to providing students with the services, activities, and support that will enhance their ability to fully engage in their educational experience here at CCSU.
Several campus offices collaborate to provide student and parent Orientation programs. These programs include: Academic Advising Days, Opening Weekend Orientation, and Transfer Student Orientations. Academic Advising Days, which occur during June and July, are coordinated primarily through the Center for Advising and Career Exploration (CACE). For more information on Orientation programs, visit the Orientation Program page to the left of the screen, or click here.
In collaboration with the Learning Center, the Office of the Vice President for Student Affairs is actively involved in the Early Alert (Early Academic Warning) program. The Early Alert program exists to intervene with students who have poor grades, attendance issues, or personal issues affecting their progress in courses. Poor academic performance and/or attendance issues can often be a symptom of a deeper problem for a student. If we can meet with and help the student before the first exam of the semester, there is a better chance of facilitating academic success.
The Office of the Vice President for Student Affairs also assists students in resolving a variety of personal, medical and other issues affecting their academic performance and daily life on campus. We handle absence notices for students, medical absences/accommodations along with Student Disability Services, and many more services. Students are welcome to stop by our office in Davidson Rm. 103 , or call us at (860) 832-1601 to schedule an appointment.
