Office of Veterans Affairs
Mr. Chris Gutierrez, Veterans Affairs Coordinator
The mission of the Veterans Affairs Office at Central Connecticut State University is to assist veterans, guardsmen, and reservists in taking full advantage of the educational benefits available to them through the Montgomery GI Bill (MGIB) and other programs. We also help students make the transition from active military duty to Central Connecticut State University, and from CCSU to active military duty. Whether you are a new student who has completed your service, a student who has interrupted your education to serve and are now returning, or a student who began your studies elsewhere and are transferring here, we will help guide you to the resources you need to make the most of your experience.
The Office of Veterans Affairs serves as a resource center and support system for our veteran student population on campus here at Central Connecticut State University. Veterans receiving educational benefits/support should utilize this office each semester and are responsible for completing all the requirements set forth by both federal and institutional policies and regulations. The Veteran Drop-In Center provides a place for student veterans to study, network with other students, utilize computers, have lunch, socialize and participate in Veterans Appreciation Organization (VAO meetings, as well as other veteran-related activities.
Veterans considering application to CCSU should contact the Office of Veterans Affairs to determine eligibility criteria for benefits and tuition waivers. While this office is not connected with the Department of Veterans Administration (VA), communication and cooperation with the VA is maintained for processing claims and benefit payments.
