The CCSU Alumni ENews is designed to keep alumni and friends up-to-date with news from the University, including important announcements, student and alumni achievements, athletic news, and upcoming events.

Cures for Winter Blues

A special theatrical event for alumni: Sweeney Todd, the 1979 Tony Award–winning musical thriller with music and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim. March 19, 5:30 pm. More here.

Two Career & Job Search Workshops for Alumni

CCSU will again be offering a workshop on securing employment and advancing careers. The April 15 workshop will help enhance job searches and provide ideas to expand personal career opportunities. The workshop is especially created for CCSU alumni and students as well as community members. Topics include:
• Knowing What You Want in a Job
• “Can’t Miss” Job Search Tools
• How to Get a Better Position
• Career Advancement Strategies
• Question & Answer to Address Specific Needs
The workshop is conveniently scheduled at 6pm to 8pm on April 15.

These workshops are also open to CCSU alumni, and cover diverse topics, from enhancing managerial skills to conducting job searches, from making business decisions to using technology. Changes in Central focus Magazine

The Winter 2010 Central focus has recently been published. Future issues will offer several new features that invite your participation.

Letters to the Editor
We welcome letters on topics in the focus or on other matters concerning the University. Letters may be edited for space and clarity. Anonymous letters will not be published. Alumni Books
We want to regularly showcase published works written by our alumni. If you have recently published a book, please let us know about it by sending an email to alumnibooks@CCSU.edu. If possible, please include an image of the book cover.

To help defray the costs of publication, we invite Central alumni and friends to advertise in our issues. The focus has a circulation of more than 50,000 and an estimated readership of 80,000. Please send inquiries to: advertising@CCSU.edu.

Tracing the Civil Rights Movement

This summer, CCSU students will have the opportunity to physically trace the nation’s civil rights movement in a course offered by African American Studies lecturer Stephen Balkaran. The class will travel to Alabama and Tennessee to explore such historically resonant cities as Montgomery, Birmingham, Selma, and Memphis.
