Responding to Emergency Messages |
Most emergency messages from the CCSU
Emergency Notification System do not require an acknowledgment. The message
itself may contain some action items for you (to leave a certain building, for
example, or to view the CCSU website for additional information). However, some
messages include response options. Listed below are instructions for
responding to those instances.
Respond to a notification via phone:- If
prompted in the phone message, verify that you are the intended recipient.
Using touch-tone keypad, follow prompts and enter appropriate responses to
the notification.
- If
the system prompts with "you have an important message, press one now," it
has not determined whether it has reached an answering machine or a human.
Press one at any time to receive the message as a live recipient. If you do
not press one, the system will play the message intended for answering
machines.
Respond to a notification via
Email:
- Reply to the email
notification. Place the appropriate response number in the body of the email
and click Send.

Call the 800-number listed in the
email and enter the Notification 10 or Telephony 10 supplied in the email.
Using a touch-tone keypad. Follow the prompts and enter the appropriate response(s).
Respond to a notification via 2-Way SMS or 2-Way Alphanumeric Pager:
- Reply to the SMS/Pager
notification - Enter Response Option number for the response and Send.
( -or- ) - Call the 800-number listed in
the SMS and enter the Telephony 10 or Notification 10 supplied in the SMS
message. Using a touch-tone keypad, follow the prompts and enter the
appropriate response(s).
Respond to a notification via
1-Way Pager or Fax:
You cannot respond to notifications via one-way
pager or fax.
- Call the 800-number listed on
the pager or fax and enter the Telephony 10 or Notification 10 supplied.
Using a touch-tone keypad, follow the prompts and enter the appropriate response(s).
