Closing Procedures for Winter Recess

All residence halls will close for Winter Recess at 3:00 pm on Friday, December 18, 2009.

  • Students finishing exams earlier must plan to leave the residence halls within 12 hours of their last examination
  • Students needing to stay later than 3:00 pm on Friday, December 18, 2009 should speak with their Resident Director 

Before leaving and to avoid unnecessary bills studnets should do the following

  • ALL RESIDENCE HALL KEYS MUST BE GIVEN to the Residence Hall Staff.  Receipts for keys turned in will be available from staff members.  You will be charged for keys that you fail to turn in by Saturday, December 19, 2009.  Studnents may return their keys and check out with a staff member between the hours of 10:00 am and 1:00 am during the week of final exams (December 14 - 19) in the staff office of your building
  • All windows closed and locked.
  • All valuables removed from room.
  • All holiday decorations taken down.
  • Refrigerators defrosted two days prior to leaving for the semester recess, door left opened, and refrigerator left unplugged.          
  • All electrical appliances must be unplugged.
  • Wastebaskets emptied.
  • No open food or beverage products to be left behind.
  • Lights turned off.
  • Doors locked.
  • Remove personal belongings from bathrooms.
  • Room must be left neat and clean.

Room Changes

Those students moving into another room in their present building or to another residence hall may pick up new keys on opening day of the spring semester. Students participating in room changes must bring their entire personal belongings home.

 

Be advised that once you leave for break you will not have access back into your room until the spring semester so plan accordingly when packing. 

Break Housing

Those students requesting to stay during the semester break must register in the Residence Life Office by Monday, December 14th, 2009. Applications are available in Residence Life Office, Barrows room 120. No sign ups after December 14th. No exceptions. Permission to stay may be given to International students, students taking classes, student workers, and co-op students working off campus. Those residents authorized to remain in the residence halls beyond the Friday, December 18th closing date will be charged at the rate of $104 per week. Students working full time on campus will be charged $70 per week and must provide a written letter from their supervisor specifying dates of employment.

All students authorized to stay after Friday, December 18th, 2009 must move to CARROLL HALL on Saturday, December 19, 2009 between 8:00 a.m. and 12:00noon and back to their permanent room assignment on Thursday, January 21ST, 2010 between 6:00 p.m. and 9:00 p.m.
