Veterans Affairs

The CCSU Office of Veteran Affairs located in Willard Hall, Room 133,  is the primary campus contact for all military veterans who want to or are attending CCSU.  By presenting current active duty  and or the DD-214 documents, the CCSU VA Office can establish the veteran's eligibility status with regard to tuiton waivers, third-party billings to cover educational costs, and other items related to attending school.  This office is not part of the U.S. Department of  Veterans Affairs but does serve as the liaison between it and the CCSU community.

To determine a veteran's eligiblity for other kinds of financial aid he or she must file the FAFSA.  Beginning with the current 2009-10 academic year, reporting requirements on the FAFSA changed significantly for veterans.  Specifically, it became unnecessary to report monthly Montgomery stipends removing such from the formula in determining financial aid eligibility.  Click on "Applying for Aid" on the FA home page to learn how to apply and what is requried to complete the FAFSA application.

Draft Registration

All males upon reaching 18 years of age must register with the U.S. Selective Service.  Failure to register prohibits the student from receiving any federal financial aid to attend school.  Registration may be accomplished in several ways, including;

-At all U.S.Post Offces

-On line with the Selective Serivce.

-Requesting registration on the FAFSA.

For all males including eligible non-citizens, foreign nationals, etc.  who have not registered by the age of 26 years, must meet certain criteria to beome eligible for financial aid.  The Selective Service website provides what is required in the form of documenation to be presented to the school's financial aid office.  Some males may be required to complete a "Request for Status Information" letter.  This 3-page document may be dowloaded from the Selective Service website.  It takes more than 30 days to receive a letter response back from Selective Service verifying the student's draft status.  This letter must be presented to the FA office before the student's aid may be processed.
