Room Selection for the Spring 2010 Semester
Please be aware that only students currently living in residence may utilize the room selection process
In order to reserve a room for the Spring 2010 Semester residents must:
- Pay the $250.00 Residence Hall non – refundable deposit
- Failure to pay the housing deposit and any outstanding bills by November 1st will cancel your housing assignment for Spring 2010 Semester.
Basic facts to help in the room selection decision making process:
- Sam May Hall: is the designated break building for the 2010 – 2011 Winter Session. Students assigned to this residence hall will need to remove all belongings from his/her assigned room at the end of the Fall 2010 Semester in order to accommodate students who will participate with winter classes.
- James Hall will be assessed an additional charge of $528.00 per semester due to the style design.
- Bunk Beds: Students living in Sheridan, Gallaudet, or Vance Halls will be provided with bunk beds. NO DE-BUNKING WILL BE ALLOWED.
Students who wish to remain in their current room need only pay the $250.00 housing deposit
Students currently living on campus who have paid the $250.00 housing deposit and wish to change their housing assignment may do so using the following options:
In-hall changes:
Students wishing to move to another room within their current residence hall should complete the Request to Change Housing Placement form and select the Internal Hall Room Switch option. A copy of the Request to Change Housing Placement form can be found here
- Request forms must be returned to the Department of Residence Life located in Barrows Hall RM 120 by Friday, October 30, 2009. No forms will be accepted after this date
- Internal Room Switches will take place on Monday, November 16th; your Area Coordinator/Resident Director will let you know the times.
- By selecting the Internal Hall Room Switch option your current room placement will be placed on the list of available spaces.
External Hall Lottery:
Students wishing to move to a room in another building should complete Request to Change Housing Placement form and select the External Hall Lottery option:
- Request forms must be returned to t the Department of Residence Life no later than Friday, October 30, 2009. No forms will be accepted after this date
- All students who apply for External Hall Lottery by Friday, October 30, 2009 and have paid their $250 housing deposit will be approved to participate in the External Hall Transfer lottery held on Wednesday, November 18th in the Nutmeg Room in Memorial Hall.
- Students will be issued a lottery number based on the number of credits they have earned; when their number is called students will be able to select any open space in any of the nine residence halls.
- Two students going through the process who wish to live together may utilize the lowest lottery number of the pair and select their room at the same time
- By selecting the External Hall lottery option your current building/room placement will be placed on the list of available spaces.

Pull In Option: *NEW PROCESS PLEASE READ CAREFULLY*
Allows a student to move into any partially open room in any of the nine residence halls (e.g., a double with one only person in it) with the approval of the room’s current occupant(s)
- Students wishing to move into another residence hall and wish to live with a particular roommate should complete the Request to Change Housing Placement form and select the Pull In Option.
- Desired roommate must sign the Request to Change Housing Placement form
- Request forms must be returned to the Department of Residence Life located in Barrows Hall RM 120 by Friday, October 30, 2009. No forms will be accepted after this date
- Students will be notified by letter sent to there room letting them know if their request has been approved or not
- If your request is not approved you will keep your current building and room assignment for the Spring 2010 Semester.
