Welcome!
Catholic Campus
Ministry would like to take this opportunity to welcome you to CCSU. We
are here to walk with you and help you develop your spiritual self as we
journey together through the college years. We hope to be a positive
alternative on Campus, and to offer activities that will build us up
both as individuals and as a community.
We would like to
invite you to come and visit us at the Newman House which is located
just across the street from the Robert C. Vance Academic Center and the
Seth North Residence Hall and is just a short 3-minute walk from the
Student Center. (NH on the Campus Map) As a student at CCSU you will
have many opportunities to meet new people, study many subjects and
continue to learn more about who you are and what your talents are and
Catholic Campus Ministry and the Newman House are here to help you get
the most out of your college experience. We offer hospitality and
spirituality; a place to come and hang out, have a cup of coffee, eat
lunch, watch TV, study, or play chess or cards between classes; a place
to come for some quiet time to think about what's going on in your life,
say a prayer, and take the opportunity to relax in an atmosphere that
will help you to be your true self here on Campus. Commuters are
welcome to use the Newman House as their “home base” before, after and
between classes; those of you who will live on Campus are welcome to
stop by and take advantage of our hospitality and spend some time with
other like minded students.
We would also
like to invite you to join the Newman Club, a University recognized
student club whose goal is to model the Catholic faith through their
actions in the CCSU community and beyond. The club meets weekly
throughout the school year and is open to new members.
Unfortunately we can not offer Cathoilc Mass on Campus this Fall Semester. Please attend weekly Mass at St. Francis Parish, served by the Franciscan Friars, and located just on the other side of James Hall on Stanley St. Their Saturday evening Mass is at 4:30 PM and Sunday Mass is at 7:30, 9:30, and 11:00 AM. We hope this can be a time each week to pray and support each other as we experience the ups and downs of college life.
As the Catholic
Campus Minister at CCSU, I look forward to meeting you!
