How To Apply for Housing

Once an undergraduate student is accepted to the university they need to apply for housing if they are interested in living in the residence halls.  The housing application packet is mailed approximately two weeks after the university acceptance letter.

Housing is not automatic, or guaranteed upon admission.  You must apply.

APPLICATION PROCESS:

In order to secure housing, the Guaranteed Housing application along with the non-refundable $250.00 housing deposit must be turned in to the Department of Residence life by one of the following deadlines:

  • April 1st if you want to be housed during the Fall semester. (For the Fall 2012 semester the housing deposit deadline has been extened to April 16, 2012)
  • October 15th if you want to be housed during the Spring semester.

Your ability to meet the guaranteed housing deadline will of course depend on how early you apply and are accepted to the University.  If you miss the deadline, you will be able to turn in a Waiting List application to the Department of Residence Life.

Here's how the Waiting List works:

As housing becomes available, we notify students, generally through the e-mail provided on the application, according to their place on the waiting list.  Your placement on the waiting list is dependant on how early you turn in the application.  Therefore, your likelihood of receiving housing increases with how early you apply.  Every application we receive is date-and-time stamped, so you can be sure that your place on the waiting list will reflect the time at which you submitted your application.  We will send an e-mail confirmation notifying you that we received your application and confirming the date it was received.

**No fee is required for your name  to be placed on the waiting list.  When we reach your name on the list, you will be notified that housing is available to you.  If you still want to be housed, you will be responsible for paying the $250.00 housing deposit at that time.**

Please Note: Additionally, it is important that prospective residents also pay the $200.00 confirmation fee to the University.  The deadline for this fee is May 1st for the Fall semester.  For the Spring semester, the deadline varies.  Please contact the Admissions Department for more information about this fee if you plan on beginning in the Spring.  For more information about University fees click here
