Grants and Funded Research
CCSU faculty, students and staff may take advantage of University subscriptions with two valuable funding opportunity resources, PIVOT and SPIN.
PIVOT Database of Funding Opportunities
The PIVOT database contains over 25,000 domestic and international funding opportunities related to all academic areas including the arts, humanities, social sciences and physical sciences. PIVOT is available to faculty, staff, and students from any on-campus computer. Once on the PIVOT website, a personal account may be established. PIVOT offers useful features such as a pre-established (faculty) profile based on publically available information, identification of internal and external researchers with similar research interests, and enhanced user interface for managing multiple funding opportunity searches. GFR contracts with RefWorks-COS for access to the PIVOT database.

SPIN Database of Funding Opportunities
SPIN (Sponsored Programs Information Network) contains information from more than 1,200 different sponsoring agencies, which together fund over 11,000 separate funding opportunities. From any on-campus computer connected to the internet, faculty, student and staff can access the SPIN Database, requesting a specialized search. All of the information on SPIN is obtained directly from the sponsoring agencies to ensure the integrity of the information. It is a computer database with detailed and up-to-the-minute information about thousands of federal, non-federal, and international funding opportunities.
