Water, Life and a Changing Planet
Thursday, April 7th, 2011
Central Connecticut State University
FREE AND OPEN TO THE PUBLIC
The 2012 symposium kicked off with the premier of ART-Farms Circus for a Fragile Planet: Submerged. The performance was educational and entertainment, and greatly enjoyed by all who attended, especially the elementary and middle school students. The presentation was followed by a display and talk by Windsor High School Students "Kids-n-Critters" program, where participants learned about and saw more than a dozen reptiles. Our luncheon speaker, Sustainable Dave (Dave Chamedies), engaged the audience in a fast-paced presentation and discussions focusing on how our actions as individuals can impact the environmental change through our own actions. The afternoon sesssions include a variety of presentations on water issues faced in other coutries and cultures, along with those challenges faced right here in our own state. Lastly, the evening eco-fair and illustrated poster session featured over 60 student research posters on sustainability and water resources and the Homeless Fish for the Homeless Silent Auction. The silent auction raised $1865 for New Britains "Mayors Work Plan to End Homelessness".
Also on display throughout the event was a portion of the CCSU museum exhibit, Izzy the Frog.
Thank you for joining us! We hope to see you next year on Thursday, March 28th 2012 for our 5th annual symposium!
