About Us
GESAC is a group of CCSU students, administrators, faculty, and alumni committed to providing information on how to live our lives in a way that is sustainable and in harmony with nature. Founded as the CCSU Climate Action Coalition in 2007, we have since expanded our scope to the larger issue of environmental sustainability. In 2008, we held our inagural Global Sustainability and Climate Change Symposium in support of Focus the nation. At this three day event, more than 800 people from middle school students to community members to state governmental officials attended. We recently completed our second symposium and have begun planning for the 2010 event.
Our Vision and Mission:
The Global Environmental Sustainability Action Coalition (GESAC) of Central Connecticut State University aims to support University and civic leaders, governmental officials, those in business and industry, and all citizens in the implementation of policies and programs that promote a healthy environment, strong economy and a just society for present and future generations.
We seek to educate, empower and motivate the CCSU community; civic, business, and political leaders; and Connecticut residents to embrace our ethical responsibility as global citizens to adopt a sustainable lifestyle.
