COMPUTER ENGINEERING TECHNOLOGY: ASSISTANT/ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR [#C10-035] 

Department of Computer Electronics/Graphics Technology (CEGT) seeks tenure-track Assistant/Associate Professor to teach courses in the BS Computer Engineering Technology, BS Electronics Technology, and related programs. Courses include electrical/electronics principles, advanced circuits and telecommunication. Faculty have the opportunity to teach supplemental courses in network design implementation, system administration, internet security, and fiber optics, and develop lecture and laboratory course curricula. Other responsibilities include programmatic marketing, advising (undergraduate and graduate students), student orientation, and registration of students, working with industrial advisors, participation in School and University committees, grant writing, scholarly activity related to technology, and other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

  • Ph.D. in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering or a closely related discipline  (or expected completion of the Ph.D. degree within maximum two years of hire) to be hired at the rank of assistant professor. Appointment at the rank of associate for an outstanding candidate. The salary is commensurate with applicant’s qualifications.
  • Minimum of two years of full-time (or equivalent) college-level teaching and/or training.
  • Must demonstrate excellent communication, team building, and teaching skills (lecture and lab).
  • A current record of scholarly activity in the discipline.

 Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge and experience in Electronics, Telecommunication, and Fiber Optics.
  • Minimum three years of relevant US industry experience (or equivalent) in the Computer or Electrical Engineering Technology field.
  • Current electronics and computer related certifications.
  • Strong commitment to undergraduate teaching and willingness to work with a diverse group of faculty, staff, and students is required.
  • Demonstrated skills and strong commitment to technical laboratory and experimental teaching, participation in hands -on research projects and application oriented activities

EDUCATIONAL LEADERSHIP: ASSISTANT PROFESSOR [#C10-036]

The Department of Educational Leadership at Central Connecticut State University (CCSU) seeks a tenure-track faculty member for our NCATE-accredited and ELCC-recognized leadership programs beginning Fall 2010.  In addition to offering a master’s degree and a sixth year licensure program, CCSU offers an innovative, cohort-based Ed.D. program for mid-career Pre-K-12 professionals seeking to enhance leadership skills at the classroom, building, or district level.  The program has received numerous commendations from state and national leaders, is entering its fifth year of implementation, and has graduated 23 doctoral degree recipients.

The Department of Educational Leadership provides leadership at the national, state and local level that has emerged from faculty scholarship in learning and assessment, professional and organizational learning, multicultural education, and educational technology.  We are now searching for an additional faculty colleague who will thrive in a collaborative department that strongly values diversity and is dedicated to preparing leaders for school improvement, and who is willing to undertake collegially the challenges and opportunities involved with teaching and supervising doctoral students, candidates for administrative licensure through superintendent of schools, and educators studying for master’ degrees.

The position includes graduate-level teaching in areas of expertise; working with doctoral students (serving on committees and, if appropriately qualified, directing dissertations); participation in department, school, and university activities; and work in partnership with schools in the greater Hartford/New Britain region.  The individual selected is expected to pursue a productive research agenda consistent with the mission of the department, and to help create field-oriented research and development projects that involve both faculty and students.

Required qualifications include:

  • Doctorate in education with emphasis in educational leadership/administration or closely related field of study.
  • A record of excellence (or potential excellence in the case of appointment at the rank of assistant professor) in teaching, research, service, and professional participation that merits appointment as an assistant professor or associate professor. 
  • Major specialization in one or more of the following areas:  (1) leadership and the process of teaching/learning/cognition; (2) organizational development and school improvement; (3) educational policy, leadership, and administration; (4) school leadership to support urban schools, diversity, and a culture of success for all children.
  • Work experience and/or research that focuses on teaching and learning in Pre-K-12 settings.

Additionally, the following preferred qualifications will be used by the search committee to identify potential candidates: 

  • Background in research and research methods sufficient for advising doctoral student research in topics related to leadership and school improvement (required for appointment at the rank of associate professor).
  • Experience in public education, including district and school leadership.
  • A research agenda that addresses leadership issues related to literacy and English language learners, equity and social justice.
  • Experience and qualifications appropriate to teaching certification courses for licensure as a building administrator or school superintendent.
  • Experience with accreditation (NCATE/ELCC) and implementation of performance assessment.

FINANCE: ASSISTANT/ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR [#C10-032]

Finance Department seeks a tenure-track faculty member beginning Fall 2010.  Responsibilities include teaching undergraduate Finance courses, research for publication, and service to the University and Department.  The Department currently has seven Finance professors and a new Financial Technology Center/Trading Room for finance classes and labs.

Qualifications:  Ph.D. in Finance, preferably from an AACSB-accredit school (ABD will be considered), and teaching experience required.  Also considered are Ph.D. in Financial Economics with publications in Finance, and teaching experience.  Strong preference will be given to those candidates with research and business experience.  

Credentials and experience substantially comparable to the above will be considered.  Rank (Assistant/Associate Professor) will depend upon qualifications.

NURSING: (2) ASSISTANT PROFESSORS [#C10-037/038] 

The Department of Nursing invites applications for two tenure-track faculty positions at the rank of Assistant Professor beginning Fall 2010.  CCSU has recently started a new BSN program and is seeking dynamic and innovative individuals to help implement the new program.  The department also has an RN/BSN program and is CCNE accredited until 2016. 

Faculty responsibilities include curriculum planning, classroom and clinical teaching, academic advisement, scholarly research and community service.  

Qualifications:  Master’s in Nursing and recent clinical experience and RN license in CT or eligibility for CT licensure required.  Ph.D. in Nursing or related field and experience in adult health or community health preferred.  Experience in psych-mental health or gerontological nursing will also be considered.
