Declaring a Major or Minor
In order to earn a degree, a student must choose a major and complete the courses required in the major's program. Some students come to CCSU with well-defined educational plans and begin taking courses in their major right away while other students, are uncertain of what major to choose and need time to formulate their academic goals. Fortunately, Central’s general education program allows a student to work toward graduation requirements while exploring various academic disciplines.
You can declare your major by writing your choice on your admissions application or filling out a declaration of major form. Some majors require students to fill out a formal application and specific requirements, which must be met before a student can be admitted to their program.
A secondary field of study required as a complement to some majors is called a minor. Many programs at CCSU require a minor of 18-24 credits. Please see your Advisor for information regarding your minor requirements.
