Sunday Maintenance Time change!

Every Sunday, between 12:00am – 12:00pm, all systems will be intermittently unavailable while important maintenance and updates are performed.

 

SafeAssign & Blackboard Learn, Friday, March 22nd

On the advice of internal counsel and State Attorney General’s representative at the Board of Regents, the BOR’s Blackboard Learn Support Team is adjusting the setting in the SafeAssignment tool to prevent further SafeAssignments from being created. This change will take place on Friday, March 22 at 5:00pm. Documents submitted via SafeAssignment by your students will continue to be available for grading and evaluation until the end of the Spring 2013 term.  At that point, the SafeAssignment Tool will be turned off, making all grades and documents submitted through the SafeAssignment tool unavailable to you. If you use SafeAssignment, please do one of the following:

Prevent Future Student Submissions: it is important to prevent students from submitting additional documents via the SafeAssignment Tool. This change must be made by 5:00pm on Friday, March 22nd.

Preserve Student Work/Grades: if you would like to preserve students’ documents and grades from SafeAssignments. Click HERE for instructions.

 

 

ConnSCU Network Maintenance Impacting Blackboard Learn – Sunday, March 17th and Sunday, March 24th

The ConnSCU Network will undergo critical maintenance the next two Sundays (March 17th and 24th) from 6am to 10am, during the scheduled Blackboard Learn maintenance window. Many services provided by the ConnSCU network will not be available INCLUDING Blackboard Learn. Please plan these times of inaccessibility into your schedules. Thank you for your patience while ConnSCU Networking performs this critical maintenance.

 

Instructor Workstation Updates

During Spring Break, the Media Center will be updating all classroom instructor workstations in order to relocate the SVGA laptop cable to the rear of the switcher in the cabinet. This should present no change in functionality. However, instead of having to plug a cable into the front of the switcher unit, or search for a loose cable in the cabinet, the labeled SVGA laptop cable will appear through a grommet near the top of the cabinet.  If you have any issues using a classroom instructor workstation after the break, please contact the IT Help Desk at x21720 or via email techsupport@ccsu.edu.

Blackboard Vista Phase-out:

The Instructional Design and Technology Resource Center would like to remind faculty that this is the last semester Vista will be available.  Any online, hybrid or web enhanced courses must be in Blackboard Learn starting with the Summer 2013 semester.

 

Blackboard Learn On-ground and NEW Online Training

We are offering more on-ground Blackboard Learn workshops to help you with the transition.   Please visit www.ccsu.edu/Learn to view the schedule and register.   Please check back often as sessions will be added throughout the semester. We are also offering Online Blackboard Learn Training through WebExThe schedule for the webinars will be forthcoming and will be posted at www.ccsu.edu/Learn.

 

Important Information about the Virtual Private Network (VPN)

For security purposes, the ability to use the Network Connect feature of the VPN will be removed on Tuesday, March 12th. The Network Connect feature allowed for access to Banner INB and remote desktop connections from off-campus on potentially unsafe computers. Remote desktop connections are available via the Remote Application Server (Citrix). If you feel that you need this capability through the VPN, please e-mail the Help Desk at techsupport@ccsu.edu with a justification as to why you need it and your request will be considered
