The proposal to create four-credit courses (with no associated lab) has raised many questions with the Curriculum Committee and the Academic Standards Committee. Both committees feel there should be a set of guidelines established to define a four-credit course as well as a means to document the additional out-of-class hours that would separate a 3-credit lecture class from a 4-credit lecture class. The chair of the Curriculum Committee and the chair of the Academic Standards Committee have suggested creating this ad hoc committee to draft such guidelines that can then be presented to both committees and the Faculty Senate.
