IT Weekly Announcement - January 3, 2013

Current & Scheduled Outages/System Updates  

Mandatory Java Updates, Thursday January 3rd and Friday January 4th    

The IT department will be upgrading Windows computers in faculty and staff offices to Java version 6.37 over the next 2 nights. Please leave your computer powered on, but log off of it, in order to receive the update. After the update, please call the IT Help Desk at x21720 if you are having problems accessing Java-based programs such as Banner Production INB and Hyperion Web Reporting.

 

Sunday Maintenance

Every Sunday, between 3:00am – 11:00am, all systems will be intermittently unavailable while important maintenance and updates are performed.

 

Network Maintenance in Copernicus and RVAC, Sunday January 6th.

On Sunday, January 6th, from 8:00AM -11:00 AM all systems will be intermittently unavailable while important maintenance and updates are performed for Robert Vance Academic Center (RVAC) and Copernicus Hall.  It may be necessary to restart/reboot your computer to regain access to the campus network after this update.

 

Using FrontPage/Extensions?

Effective January 10, 2013 FrontPage Extensions will no longer be supported on University websites.  If you are using FrontPage and/or FrontPage extensions, please contact the IT Help Desk at x21720.

 

Change to Blackboard Learn and Vista Maintenance Window

The maintenance window for Blackboard Learn and Vista is changing to Sunday mornings from 6am – 10am, starting on Sunday January 13th. This maintenance window replaces the Friday evening window. During the maintenance window, these systems will be unavailable.

 

ImageNow/WebNow Outage, February 13st – 14th  

The ImageNow/WebNow system will be unavailable starting Wednesday February 13st at 8:00am until Thursday February 14th  at 5:00pm for a version upgrade from 6.6x to 6.7x. Please plan accordingly for this downtime.

Please come to a TechTalk session to learn more about Identity Finder.  It’s essential that everyone run this software on their local hard drives, netshares, e-mail and more.  At this talk we’ll provide a live demo and helpful tips to help make this process go smoothly for you.  The next two sessions will be held in the Student Center, in the Sprague meeting room.
