Improve safety, health and security on campus.

Enabling Activities:

  • Expand police outreach to students emphasizing decreasing larceny, vandalism, and assault cases.

  • Build a new police station/welcome center.

  • Increase the number of professionals to support wellness of students

  • Continue to refit all campus locking systems.

  • Maintain high levels of involvement in Recreation and Intramurals.

  • Maximize utilization of field space and scheduling time for recreation and intramurals.

  • Continue training of residence life staff based on ACUHO-I best practices.

  • Conduct regular health and safety checks in residence halls with appropriate follow-up for violations.

  • Continue to partner with community through Town and Gown initiatives.

  • Increase student awareness of suicide prevention programming (i.e. QPR and SOS).

  • Increase student engagement in overall wellness services and activities.

  • Finalize sexual assault protocol and policy; provide information and training to campus community

  • Work with University Police and continue to contract with outside security company to work with student club/organization sponsored dances to staff events.

  • Continue Residence Life staff training based on “best practices.”

  • Establish team to develop campus sexual assault and interpersonal violence protocol

  • Continue to improve effectiveness of Student Behavioral Review Team.

  • Continue to maintain 100% meningitis immunization requirement in Residence Life.

  • All Police Officers undergoing additional sexual assault investigation training.

  • Updated Crisis Management Manual

  • Officers have received Active Shooter Training

  • Officers have received update training on addressing juvenile issues

  • Updated firearms and rifle training

  • Updated Threat Assessment Training

  • On-line self-scheduling: 193 students currently registered with the student health link with 124 self-scheduled appointments.

  • Social media presence: 189 tweets this year with 150 followers.

  • Improved community outreach – newspaper stories, flyers, educational talks in dorms and classrooms, and more student wellness outreach highlighting services offered.
