Accepting and Signing My Financial Aid

Your financial aid award identifies specific awards and amounts for which you are eligible for the entire academic year.  Do not expect to use the entire academic year amount when budgeting for a semester only.  Also, grant funds prorate according to the number credits enrolled; i.e., 12 plus credits = 100%, 9-11 credits = 75%, and 6-8 credits = 50%.  The Pell Grant will  pay 25% for less than 6 credits.   Financial aid for each semester may not be used for any other semester during the academic year.

You must accept and sign your financial aid award online in your CCSU Pipeline Account, Your Pipeline account is the primary method the FA Office uses to communicate with you about your financial aid.  Please complete both functions by accessing www.ccsu.edu.

Your financial aid is posted to your university e.Bill account in early June for Fall and November for Spring. If verification and other FAFSA issues have not been completed, you are responsible for paying your bill on July 15 for fall semester and December 15 for spring semester.

Financial aid is disbursed following the drop-add period each semester.  Any credit balances are refunded to you either by check or direct deposit.

Financial aid is normally awarded for the academic year - fall and spring semesters..  Depending when the student is admitted to CCSU, it may be awarded for fall, spring and or summer only.  Financial aid is not awarded for winter session.  Only one-half of eligible aid for the academic year may be used per semester.

Students are required to complete a FAFSA for each academic year beginning January 1.  Aid is awarded based on the most current data.   It is possible you may not receive the same amount and kind of aid each year due changing eligibility and circumstances.

If you are a first-time borrower of a Stafford loan at CCSU, you must complete the master promissory note and entrance counseling interview at www.ccsu.edu/finaid.Continuing students who previously accepted a federal Stafford loan at CCSU do not need to redo the MPN and interview requirements.  The Perkins loan promissory note needs to be completed at www.signmyloan.com.
