Learning Outcomes


Students in the BA in Music will:

  1. Demonstrate proficiency in aural and written musical skills;
  2. Demonstrate the required level of proficiency on their primary instrument;
  3. Demonstrate piano skills.


Students in the BS in Music Education will:

  1. Demonstrate proficiency in aural and written musical skills;
  2. Demonstrate the required level of proficiency on their primary instrument,
  3. Demonstrate piano skills;
  4. Exhibit basic knowledge of pedagogy and instruction.


And for the Masters Program will:

  1. Indentify different philosophies of music education and their application to curriculum, instruction, and assessment in music education;
  2. Identify major theories of learning the psychology and sociology and thier application to curriculum, instruction, and assessment in music education;
  3. Indentify current issues in music education, and demonstrate their ability to evaluate and synthesize research in music education related to current issues;
  4. Demonstrate competence in written skills, and an ability to disseminate knowledge in a scholarly coherent, and organized manner; and
  5. Demonstrate proficiency in aural and written musical skills.
