Spring Dance Concert

Welte Auditiorium

Here at the CCSU Dance Program our purpose is to produce highly qualified dance educators for public schools. We believe that the performing arts are a necessity, not a luxury. Therefore the performing arts must be included in public school curricula. All performing arts including dance, encourage creativity and critical thinking by emphasizing the process, as opposed to the product.

In alignment with the National Dance Standards, the program is committed to teaching dance education as our primary focus. It embraces personal development, diversity, wellness, technical dance training, choreography, knowledge and skills.

Emphasizing the creative process over the final product, Dance Education facilitates creative skills with broad applications beyond the classroom. CCSU dance students actively participate in community engagement activities on and off campus through varied outreach programs and artist in residence programs with visiting dance professionals.

CCSU dance students also have the opportunity to perform student works, faculty choreography and pieces by visiting guest artists. Main stage productions are open to the general public. All performance opportunities, internships with professional companies, and community outreach programs are available by audition.

Our expanding dance program continues to meet the educational needs and surmount the challenges of our ever-growing Connecticut school systems.

We look forward to another exciting year of dance at CCSU and we thank you for your interest.
