Scholarships
The Graduate School administers two scholarship awards. The Graduate Academic Awards and the Outstanding Scholar Award Program occurs in the fall semester. In the spring semester, the CCSU Foundation through Graduate Studies accepts applications for the Graduate Student Association Scholarship. Click on either of the two links to obtain information and application forms. The amount of each scholarship will be contingent upon the amount of funding made available by the University Scholarship and Loan Committee each year.
Graduate Academic Awards
Graduate Academic Awards are presented each fall to one distinguished student in each academic program. Departments may nominate the same student to be considered for the Outstanding Scholar Award. There will be one outstanding scholar from each school in the university. The criteria established by the Graduate Studies Committee are:
Must have completed 12 credit hours in an approved graduate planned program of study.
- Must be in attendance at least one or more additional semesters following the semester of nomination.
- Shall be registered as a full or part-time student in good standing for a minimum of three (3) credits in the spring or fall semester of the academic year of the nomination.
- Must be pursuing either a Master's Degree, Sixth Year Program or the Ed.D. in Educational Leadership.
- Must demonstrate minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.50 on the graduate transcript.
- Must have completed a minimum of nine (9) credits of graduate level courses in an approved planned program of study.
- Must have received no more than one B in courses in the approved planned program.
For the Academic Award: Must include signatures from both the advisor and an instructor at CCSU with whom the nominee has completed a graduate level course.
For the Outstanding Scholar Award: Must be nominated by department or program faculty and include two letters of recommendation from the adviser, instructor, graduate program director, or department chair that address how the nominee demonstrates as many as applicable of the Graduate Tenets.
Please note:
Graduate students are limited to one graduate Academic Award during their course of graduate study at CCSU.
Graduate Student Association Scholarship
Criteria for this Scholarship are:
1.Must have completed a minimum of 15 graduate credits at CCSU.
2.Must be in attendance at least one additional semester after receipt of award.
3.Must demonstrate minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.50 for all graduate courses
4.Must complete full application packet including essay and two letters of recommendation.
Part-Time Matriculant Scholarship for 2007-2008 Academic Year
Criteria for this Scholarship are:
1.Must be matriculated in a planned program for at least one year.
2.Must have completed a minimum of 9 graduate credits at CCSU.
3.Must demonstrate minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.50 for all graduate courses.

Ruthe Boyea Scholarship (2050)
Matriculated undergraduate or graduate student with a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.0 who shows promise of outstanding academic and career potential and support for the enhancement of women.
Special Application Instructions:
Applicants shall submit a statement indicating what they have done, or plan to do, for the enhancement of women.
David DeNuccio Graduate Scholarship (2307)
Provides financial support for the recognition of outstanding performance by graduate students in the CCSU Department of Biological Sciences.
These awards are for the most worthy graduate students in each of the three majors:
M.A. - Biological Sciences; M.S. - Biological Sciences; M.S. - Biological Sciences-Anesthesia
Stanislaus A. Blejwas Memorial Scholarship (2009)
- Provides support to a currently enrolled full-time undergraduate or graduate student who demonstrates an interest in Polish issues. Preference will be given to a student enrolled in an interdisciplinary academic minor in Polish Studies or to a CCSU student who studies in Poland for a semester or a year.
Special Application Instructions: Applicants must submit a statement of not more than 250 words, detailing specifically how they have dedicated themselves to Polish scholarship and to involvement and leadership in the Polish community, and two letters of recommendation from faculty members, school counselors, or notable persons from the community.
Grzyb Memorial Scholarship (2370)
- Student of American birth who excels in Polish Studies at CCSU.
Modern Languages Scholarship
Karen Beyard Scholarship (2120)
- Support for a full-time employee of CCSU in a bargaining unit that does not provide tuition waivers.
Virginia Wicks Vidich Scholarship (2890)
- Supports students who have the underlying character and ability to be successful but whose personal, economic or social circumstances have put them at risk.
Special Application Instructions:
- This scholarship is based upon nominations to the University Scholarship Committee therefore applications for this scholarship are not accepted.
