We will have a rotating list of courses covering various aspects of science and its communication. Courses are open to students in any major and to continuing education students. There are no prerequisites.
During the current semester (Spring, 2012) I am teaching a course under Anthropology 475: Special Topics called "The Anthropology of Science." In the Fall, 2012 semester, I will teach a second course called "Current Controversies in the Sciences."
Other topics on the current list are:
- Science as a Way of Knowing
- Presenting Science to the Non-Specialist
- Ethical Issues in the Sciences
These courses will, of course, draw from all over the university community for guest lectures and help with preparation. They will thus be interdisciplinary in topics, and it is hoped that some may carry credit in other than the Anthropology Department.
