Social Media and Academic Community, a Professional Development Workshop for CCSU Faculty
Wednesday, March 20, 5:30 to 7:00 p.m.
Marcus White Living Room
Light refreshments will be served.
Dr. Candace Barrington, Professor of English, will discuss the benefits of social media for geographically and institutionally isolated faculty members. She has a long-standing commitment to collaboration: co-editing two essay collections, co-authoring essays, as well as holding campus- and statewide leadership roles (such as sheparding for four years CCSU's Faculty Senate). She is currently working with Jonathan Hsy (George Washington University) on Global Chaucers, a multi-national, multi-lingual project to locate, catalog, translate, archive and analyze translations and appropriations of Chaucer's The Canterbury Tales, with a focus on non-Anglophone adaptations dating from 1945.
THE FIRST ANNUAL FACULTY DAY
and Excellence in Teaching Awards

This will be the most ambitious event ever offered by CTFD and will include a morning program that includes:
*CCSU faculty that already teach hybrid and online courses offering practical, hands-on demonstrations of effective strategies. Faculty will be encouraged to move freely about the room so they can engage in relaxed exchanges about online and hybrid pedagogical issues.

* Short presentations by active Learning Community Groups about their programs for the 2012-13 academic year, in particular "Using Writing Templates," and "Integrating a Civic Project into Curriculum"
A FREE LUNCH will follow the morning program.
The Excellence in Teaching Awards will be presented in the afternoon.
