FACE TO FACE, photographs by Czesław Czapliński
Czesław Czapliński, an artistic photographer, journalist and documentary filmmaker, was born in 1953 in Łódź (Poland). Since 1979 he has divided his time between homes in New York and Warsaw. He is the author and co-author of more than 30 albums and books, whose photographs and articles have been published all over the world.
Czapliński's works are in the collections of the Library of Congress in Washington, The New York Public Library, The Museum of Art in Łódź, The National Museum in Warsaw and Wroclaw, and The National Library in Warsaw, as well as in numerous private collections worldwide.
The Face to Face exhibit consists of original photographs by Czesław Czapliński, including portraits of Czesław Miłosz, Joseph Brodsky, Umberto Eco, Andy Warhol, Walter Cronkite, Wisława Szymborska, Susan Sontag, Michael Jackson, and many others.
The exhibit is on display on the 2nd floor of the library during the month of September.
