Professor Hauke Brunkhorst is an internationally renowned German sociologist, expert on European constitutionalism, political theory, and commentator on European affairs. He is director of the Institute for Sociology at the University of Flensburg, and has held visiting appointments at the New School for Social Research and Brown University, among others. He is the author of Solidarity: From Civic Friendship to Global Legal Community (MIT Press, 2005), as well as books on Hannah Arendt, Theodor Adorno, and Juergen Habermas.
