Welcome

It is my pleasure to welcome you to the Office of Field Experiences (OFE). Our goal is to support the preparation of future educators for the early childhood, elementary, secondary, special education, and K-12 school settings.

CCSU teacher education programs prepare leaders for service in diverse communities. This is accomplished through comprehensive coursework and ongoing field experiences based on each students’ planned program.

Our main focus in the OFE is the culminating experience of each student’s program - student teaching. Each year, the OFE requests over 400 student teaching placements. To do this, we must work closely with statewide school districts as well as the State Department of Education to secure appropriate placements for Teacher Candidates where theory is put into practice in a classroom setting.

Student teachers quickly learn that, unlike other semesters, student teaching requires commitment, energy, and passion in ways they have not yet experienced. They also learn that the responsibilities of a teacher reach far beyond the start and end of every school day.

The OFE web page is intended to be a valuable resource for student teacher applicants, student teachers out in the field, district facilitators, and the cooperating teachers who host us.
