Collaborations

CCSU Department of Music students and faculty regularly join forces with local and national professional-caliber artists and arts organization. Here is a sampling from just the past few years:

The CCSU Jazz Ensemble has competed in the prestigious Villanova Jazz Festival over the past 15 years. They regularly place in the Top 3, and have won it twice: in 2013 and 2015.

Multiple ensembles from CCSU have performed at conferences for professional development organizations such as Connecticut Music Educators Association (CMEA) and American Choral Directors Association (ACDA).

The New Britain Museum of American Art, the first museum of strictly American art in the country, is recognized as one of New England's largest museums. The CCSU University Singers has appeared on one of the museum's performing arts series. Additionally, The Connecticut Trio, a CCSU faculty ensemble, has performed at the museum regularly over the past two decades.

The CCSU University Singers has appeared numerous times as guests on the subscription series concerts of the professional choirs Voce and Concora, as well as the professional chamber orchestra, Virtuosi.

The CCSU University Singers regularly collaborates with prominent guest conductors such as Peter Bagley, Rick Coffey, and Adrian Sylveen.

The composition program collaborated with Hartford Independent Chamber Orchestra (HICO). The orchestra performed premieres of works by four student composers, and two faculty composers.

The CCSU Wind Ensemble and CCSU University Singers performed in masterclasses and live performance with the Air Force Band and Singing Sergeants.
