Aggregated searchable/browseable news from 4,500 worldwide sources, refreshed continually. Users may set up news alerts. Advanced features may be used to restrict alerts to specific news sites -- this is a way to get news alerts from the New York Times without subscribing to the NYT Newstracker ($$).

Google World News
Geographical directory of news media throughout the globe.

NewsDirectory
For worldwide coverage of English language news media: 3,600 newspapers, 4,800 magazines, hundreds of television stations. News is geographically browseable; magazines and listed by subject.

Newseum
Calling itself the "Interactive Museum of News" Newseum goes beyond historical information and delivers the front pages of 400 newspapers (for historical front pages users should click on CyberNewseum); additionally a "Map View" is available allowing users to choose the front pages from 46 countries.

Newslink
1000s of links to news media sites; several interesting breakdowns of media by "most linked to," "most frequently accessed," etc.

Newsnow
Billing itself as the U.K.'s #1 News Portal, NewsNow searches 20331 news sources every five minutes. Browsable and searchable (you can only search one word at a time in the "no charge" mode). Terrible pity: there are no free RSS feeds.
