Alexandria Digital Library
The project began in 1994 with the
development of the Alexandria Digital Library (ADL), a distributed digital
library with collections of georeferenced materials and services for
accessing those collections. Distributed means the library's
components may be spread across the Internet. Georeferenced means
the library's holdings are associated with a region (footprint) on the
surface of the Earth.
