Praxis I Preparation
Not currently available as of
11/27/2007
|
Students interested in preparing
for the Praxis I Exam have access to preparation materials and the
Learning Plus program during regular Learning Center
office hours. It
is recommended that students visit the Learning Center to practice
with exam preparation materials at least one month before taking the
Praxis I exam. How long Praxis I
preparation can take is based on individual performance. However,
full preparation can take anywhere from 20-40 computer hours in the
Learning Center. |
Learning Plus is a computerized interactive tutorial
that is designed to help you better prepare for your Praxis I
Exam. It is broken down into 5 sections.
|
1)
The first section will teach you about the
program.
|
2) The
second is a series of Skills Profile Tests in each of the 3 areas, math,
writing (including an essay) and reading. These tests will score you,
tell you how long you took to take them, but most importantly, they will
give you a diagnostic telling you specifically what you need to focus on
while studying.
|
3)
The
next section is the actual tutorial based on your specific diagnostic.
|
4) Section four is preparing for tests.
|
5)
Section five is
another set of tests, at which point between the Skills Profiles and the
Tutorial should show any necessary improvement.
|
|
Students have reported great success do to this program,
saying that it helped them tremendously! |
|
During the first visit, students
are required to fill out a student information sheet and then sign
into the appointment log. This information sheet will keep track
of the students progress through the preparation materials. On
subsequent visits to the Learning Center, students will only have to
sign into the appointment and taking the test and signing up is free. |
