AXA Foundation and Citizens' Scholarship Foundation of America will award scholarships to well-rounded high school graduates and promote higher education through a series of national and local initiatives. Fifty-two (52) scholarship recipients, known as AXA Achievers, will be selected one from each state, the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico. These recipients will receive one-time scholarships of $10,000 each. Ten (10) AXA Achievers will be selected as national recipients from the pool of 52, earning an additional one-time scholarship of $15,000, a computer and the offer of an internship at an AXA office. Cintas Fellowship Program. A program for artists of Cuban citizenship or direct lineage, not resident in Cuba, working in the fields of architecture, music composition, visual arts and photography, and literature. The Fellowships are worth $10,000 each, and are offered by the Cintas Foundation, Inc. in memory of Oscar Cintas, a prominent Cuban industrialist, diplomat, and patron of the arts. Instructions on how to apply:

In order to apply for a Hispanic Scholarship Fund Scholarship, you must have a CURRENT email account. It is important that you use an email address that you check regularly, as all correspondence will be sent to you by email. Helpful Hint: Please make sure you identify HSF as a personal contact so that our messages do not end up in your Spam folder.

To begin applying, click the “Register now” link on the left hand side. After you complete the Registration section, you’ll receive an email asking you to verify your email account. Once you verify your email address, you may begin the application process. Go to your home page on the online system by clicking on “Home” on the left hand side. This will identify the three steps you need to take in applying for a scholarship.

Step 1: Submit a Universal Application.

Step 2: Apply for Scholarships: All scholarships that you are eligible for will be listed here. To apply, please click on “start your application” and follow the instructions. In order to be considered for more than one scholarship, you must apply to each scholarship listed by clicking on each respective scholarship program.

Step 3: Submit Required Documents: All documents that are required in order to complete your application will be listed here. Click on the “required” link to see more instructions on submitting these documents. Once all required documents have been received, an email will be sent to you alerting you that your application is now complete.

The Junior Summer Institute at the Woodrow Wilson School of Public and International Affairs - Princeton University is seeking applicants for its 2003 Public Policy and International Affairs Fellowship Program. The Junior Summer Institute is designed to prepare students of color for graduate study in public and international affairs. The program will be held at Princeton University from June 12, 2003 through August 1, 2003. Applicants must be in their junior year of undergraduate study and demonstrate a strong interest in public service and a career in domestic public policy or international affairs. The curriculum is designed to improve students' analytic and communication skills through three areas of study - economics, statistics, and policy analysis/writing. The program is fully funded and will cover the entire cost of tuition, housing, meals, and transportation. In addition, students receive a $1,000 stipend. Knoxville College, a traditionally minority institution, in east Tennessee has reduced its tuition from $5,000 to $1,400 per student including room, board, and books. All you need is $600 for the enrollment deposit and $800 can be paid in four monthly installments of $200 each. The program is funded by corporate sponsors and guarantees a college education where students graduate debt free. Enrollment requirements include a high school diploma and a 2.0/4.0 scale. If your student has below a 2.0, but you know they are college material, they may be considered provided they get three letters of recommendation for educators who will support their potential. AAMC - Minority Medical Education Program (MMEP). The National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH) announces $10,000 in prizes for the best essays in American history by high school juniors. The students will be competing as part of "We the People," a new national civics and American history education initiative, sponsored by NEH and announced by President Bush. The nationwide essay contest is on "The Idea of America." We are asking students to write a 1,200-word essay on a topic that challenges them to think about the tenets that define and unite our nation. The contest deadline is November 18, 2002. In the spring, the winner will be recognized at the "Heroes of History" lecture and will receive a $5,000 prize. Five runners-up will receive $1,000 each. The winners and a parent or guardian will be flown to Washington, D.C. for the event. We invite you to visit this website to learn more about the initiative and view the contest's guidelines. This program is for students whose major or principal area of study is advertising, architecture, environmental graphics, fashion design, filmmaking, fine arts, furniture design, graphic design, illustration, interior design, or landscape architecture.
