    Dr. Carl R. Lovitt, Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs  
    Dr. Carl R. Lovitt, Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs since May 2007, has broad international experience as a student, scholar, and administrator. Dr. Lovitt came from Penn State Berks-Lehigh Valley College, a two-campus, baccalaureate degree-granting college in the Penn State System, where he was chief academic officer and Professor of English. He was Founding Director of the Roy and Marnie Pearce Center for Professional Communication at Clemson University. In that role, he coordinated a university communication program that led Time/Princeton Review to honor Clemson as the “Public College of the Year” in 2000.

A widely published scholar, Dr. Lovitt earned his Ph.D. in Comparative Literature at the University of Wisconsin, Madison, his Licence (Master’s equivalent) at the Université de Paris III, and his bachelor’s at Washington University in St. Louis.
