Position Summary: Supports the Executive Director in the management, operations, and implementation of programs of the Center.  Assists the Executive Director with the management of the Center’s day-to-day participation in University outreach programs, with emphasis on development and management of the archival and oral history programs.

Supervision Exercised: Supervises University Assistants and students working on Center for Public Policy and Social Research Center programs/projects.

Position Responsibilities:

Assists the Executive Director with management of the Center’s collaboration with the Institute for the Study of Crime & Justice (ISCJ), Institute for Municipal & Regional Policy (IMRP) and US-China Business Center (USCBC) to expand the University’s capacity to provide research, informational and training assistance to state government, municipalities and non-profit organizations. 

Under the supervision of the Executive Director, collaborates with other University departments to conduct assessment of University resources, works with students and faculty and visits town agencies and non-profit and community-based organizations to match needs with available resources.  Monitors, evaluates and reports findings of the program to the Executive Director.

Assists the Executive Director with the O’Neill archives project and the planning and implementation of the O’Neill oral history project; works with the Executive Director and Archivist in planning the preservation phase of the O’Neill archives project, including digitization. 

Under the supervision of the Executive Director, manages the Lemon Law archival and oral history projects, including the acquisition of additional public policy collections pertaining to the Lemon Law. 

Works with Executive Director, University Librarian, O’Neill Endowed Chair archivist, other University departments and the National Archives and Records Administration to improve records management and develop and institute a pre-processing system for future collections to be archived by the Center.

Collaborates with and assists the Executive Director in planning and implementing municipal and government education and training programs.

Works with the Executive Director in the development and implementation of symposiums for state and municipal government leaders and policy-makers for the framing, debate and facilitation of public policy development in a myriad of public policy issues.

Assists the Executive Director to design, maintain and continually update a web site to promote the Center’s programs, archives, oral history collection and resources.

Provides research support to the Executive Director on policy issues, models and best practices outlining findings and recommendations, and at the request of the Executive Director, also provide this support to the directors of the ISCJ, IMRP and USCBC. Tracks and monitors legislation of interest to the above-mentioned centers/institutes.

Provides administrative support to the Executive Director in the planning, coordination and implementation of special projects. 

May participate in and represent the Executive Director and the Center on task forces at meetings or other functions as necessary.

Performs other duties and responsibilities related to those enumerated above which do not alter the basic level of responsibility of the position.

Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in history or political science, and experience researching, planning and implementing an oral history program at a University using archival collections.  Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with academic faculty and students on University-based public policy outreach programs; effective writing skills and ability to communicate effectively with a wide variety of people; demonstrated ability to coordinate programs and events, manage projects and students in a university environment; and ability to use standard office software.  Credentials and/or experience substantially comparable to the above may also be considered.

Image  RESIDENCE LIFE: RESIDENCE HALL DIRECTOR [#C08-121]

This live-in professional staff member is responsible for the overall quality of life in a university residence hall.  He/she coordinates the educational student development and administrative aspects of a residence hall.  The emphasis of this position is on establishing and maintaining an atmosphere conducive to personal growth and academic achievement.  This is a 10-month live-in position.

Qualifications: Bachelor degree; two years relevant Residence Life experience required.  Demonstrated ability and knowledge of utilizing enterprise software, along with Microsoft Office computer programs preferred.  Credentials and/or experience substantially comparable to the above requirements may also be considered.
