Scheduled Maintenance and System Outages

Network Maintenance, Monday July 7th - Access to all systems including Internet access will be unavailable for less than 5 minutes between 7:00am and 7:30am on Monday, July 7th. It may be necessary for you to restart your computer in order to log in to the campus network after the maintenance is complete.

Network Maintenance, Sunday July 20th - Network connectivity in the residence halls "down the hill" will be unavailable between 8:00am and 12:00pm while maintenance and upgrades take place. It may be necessary after the upgrades are complete to restart/reboot your computer to regain access to the campus network.

System Maintenance, Sunday July 20th - Routine security patches need to be applied to the servers in the Data Center. Access to many systems including CentralPipeline, Banner and e-mail may be intermittent between the hours of 8:00am and 2:00pm as each server has the updates applied to it and is restarted.

TELEPHONE CHANGES: Telecommunication Service Request Forms (TSR) - As Summer is a busy season for Telecommunications, any telephone additions, moves or changes needed for the start of the Fall semester must be received in the ITS/Telecom Office by Friday, August 8, 2008. Any TSR’s received after this date cannot be guaranteed to be completed before the semester begins. TSR’s may be found on the Telecom website: http://www.ccsu.edu/its/telecom/tsr.htm

IT Help Desk Hours - Starting Monday June 30th, the Help Desk will be open Monday through Friday from 8:00am – 5:00pm. Limited support will still be available Monday through Thursday from 5:00pm – 8:00pm for faculty having technology issues in classrooms. Extended Help Desk hours will resume on Monday August 11th for all technology related issues.

Office 2007 Training - To help folks with the learning curve, we are offering "1-on-1" training. How can it get better than THAT? To register, please visit www.ccsu.edu/cutt and click on "1-on-1 Training". Would you like your department trained at the same time? E-mail us at cutt@ccsu.edu to request a customized training class.

Monthly TechTalks - We have some exciting TechTalks scheduled! We hope you can attend! TechTalks start at 12:30pm and generally do not last for more than 45 minutes. Refreshments are served. Come on down, get out of the office and bring a friend! Learn more about how technology can make your life easier. Suggestions for future topics are highly encouraged. Please respond back to this email if you have any suggestions. Here are the upcoming topics:

  • July 9th – Optimizing Outlook - Got the Outlook Blues? This month, Information Technology’s TechTalk will be on how to speed up that application we all love. Location is the Vance Academic Center in room 105 due to the renovations taking place in the Student Center.

Important Announcement for Macintosh Users - Leopard 10.5.3 has been released and we are ready to upgrade computers on campus. If you are interested in having your CCSU owned computer upgraded, please contact the IT Help Desk (832-1720) to request an upgrade.
