Why can't I access Outlook
from home? If you are unable to access your CCSU e-mail account using Outlook 2003/2007 from home, after following the instructions from the Self-Help/FAQ web page, it is probably because your Internet Service Provider (ISP) is blocking port 135 to provide better security for you.. A port is a connection point that computers use to talk to each other over a network. Certain programs use different ports. The Microsoft Exchange server that is used on campus uses port 135, so if your ISP is blocking this port you will be unable to access the Exchange server. This was done by many internet service providers on the recommendation from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security. You can however still access your e-mail from off campus. You can use Outlook Web Access. The directions on how to use Outlook Web Access can be found on this Online Assistance page. |
