Required Patches

There are several steps each user must pass to authenticate to our network. Currently, because of the network problems the windows operating system has caused, it is our primary focus.

Windows Users
  1. CleanAccess Agent is up to date [Required]
    • This rule verifies that you are running at least CleanAccess agent version 3.5
  2. Critical Service Packs installed [Required]
    • This rule verifies that Windows XP users have at least Service Pack 1 installed and Windows 2000 users have at least Service Pack 4 installed.
  3. Windows Critical Updates installed [Required]
    • This rule encompasses all *critical updates after the above service packs were released
    • If you fail on this rule, please visit http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com/ to install the patches. If you are not prompted to install any updates, please contact the helpdesk at x21720, your registry may not have the proper entries.
  4. Virus scan is installed [Required]
    • You must have one of the following 3 virus scanners
      • Trend Micro
      • Symantec's Norton Antivirus
      • McAfee Virus Scan *****primarily supported*****
  5. Virus Scan Definition must be up to date [Optional]
    • the virus scanner should have up to date definitions in order to catch new viruses
Linux/Mac Users
Currently Mac and Linux users will not be blocked for any vulnerabilities. However, a scan will be performed on your machine when you login. If a popular vulnerability/virus is released we may block it in the future.
