Macintosh Computer Maintenance

Resetting the parameter RAM (PRAM).

  1. Restart your Macintosh computer.

  2. When the screen turns black, press and hold the option, apple, 'p', and 'r' keys until you hear the computer startup jingle 4 times, and then release the keys. The computer will reset all of the system parameter RAM to default.

This procedure helps lessen the frequency of system crashes, and cycling useless data in the RAM resulting in less memory available to run software.
