How do I access my M: drive or other netshares from home with my PC?

  1. Open Internet Explorer.
  2. Click on the File menu, then Open (or press Ctrl + O).
  3. In the dialog box, type https://webfiles.ccsu.edu
  4. Click on the check box in front of “Open as Web Folder” to place a check in the box, then click on the OK button.
  5. You will be prompted to log in. Enter your BlueNet Account username and password.

Once you connect to your netshare, all files that need to be modified should be copied from the netshare to the local machine for editing and then copied back to the netshare once the modifications have been made.  This will prevent any information from being lost in case the network connection is broken.

How do I access my M: drive or other netshares from home using a Mac with OS X?

  1. Click on the Go menu, then Connect to Server.

  2. In the Server Address box, type https://webfiles.ccsu.edu

  3. Click on Connect. Enter your BlueNet Account username and password, then click on the OK button. Your netshare will open and also appear on the Desktop.

Once you connect to your netshare, all files that need to be modified should be copied from the netshare to the local machine for editing and then copied back to the netshare once the modifications have been made.  This will prevent any information from being lost in case the network connection is broken.

How do I save to my M: drive or other netShares from home using the VPN?

Windows and Macintosh OSX users can also access their M: drive and netshares through  the VPN.  Visit "Using the VPN to Connect to the CCSU Network" for detailed instructions.

How do I modify netshare files from home?

Creating and saving a document once connected to your netshare

Ø PC Users

  1. Create a document in any application.

  2. Save the file locally to your C:, D:, or A: drive.

  3. Go to My Computer and access the drive containing the saved file.

  4. Right-click on the saved file and choose Copy.

  5. Open your netshare window, right-click inside the window and choose Paste.

Ø Mac Users

Save the file to the desktop and drag and drop it into your netshare window.

Editing an existing document once connected to your netshare

  1. Right-click on the document you wish to edit within your netshare window and choose Copy.

  2. Go to My Computer and access your local drive by double-clicking on it.

  3. Right-click in the window and choose Paste.

  4. Open the document from your local drive.  Modify the document.

  5. After you have finished modifying the document save it to your local drive and close it.

  6. Go to My Computer, right-click on the document you modified and choose Copy.

  7. Go to your netshare and right-click on it, choose Paste.
