What is a BlueNet Account?
A BlueNet Account is required to connect to the CentralPipeline system and to log into any PC located on campus. CentralPipeline is an all-inclusive computer system that gives a student access to important campus resources. All CCSU students who need to access the software available in the Marcus White Microcomputer Lab or any other classroom or computer lab on campus is required to obtain a BlueNet Account.
What can I do with my BlueNet Account?
- Log in to campus computers
- Log in to CentralPipeline and all of its resources, including Banner Web Services,
e-billing, and Blackboard Vista
- Access your CCSU e-mail
- Access the campus wireless network
- Access Citrix
- Access the MailFrontier Anti-Spam system
How do I activate/create my BlueNet Account?
There are two ways a student can activate/create a new computer account:
- Via the Internet at http://pipeline.ccsu.edu.
- Go to the Marcus White Computer Lab on campus. There are some PCs in the lab that give a student direct access to the account creation website.
What is required to activate/create my BlueNet Account?
For security reasons, students must provide the account activation program with their 8-digit student ID, the last 4-digits of their SSN, and their date of birth, to successfully obtain an account.
How does the account activation program work?
After supplying the correct security information, the account activation program will create a new username for the student. The username will be printed on the screen. The student is then required to set a password and set email preferences on the new account. The account activation program will take the student through these two procedures. Students must set a password in order to successfully use their account the first time. For email preferences, a student is given the choice to set up a CCSU mailbox or set email forwarding to an off-campus email address.
How do I access my BlueNet Account on campus?
In any classroom or computer lab on campus:
- A bouncing Logon Box should be visible on each PC.
- Press CTRL/ALT/DEL (three keys at the same time)
- Click inside the Logon box and type your Student Computer Account Username.
- Press the TAB key to move the cursor to the password box and type in your Student Computer Account password.
- Press the ENTER key.
How do I change my BlueNet Account password?
Changing your password when logged into a PC on campus:
Your account password can be changed by pressing CTRL/ALT/DEL on the PC and bringing up the Windows Security Dialog Box. Choose the Change Password button. When the Password Change box appears, type in your current password into the Old Password field. TAB to the New Password field and type in your new password (See Special Note below). TAB to the Confirm New Password field and type in your new password again. Click OK and be sure to remember your new password.
Changing your password via CentralPipeline on or off campus:
Your account password can be changed inside the CentralPipeline system by clicking on the Account Management link on the main CentralPipeline page. There is a link to the Password Reset page from the Account Management link.
Special Note: Your account password must follow some ‘secure’ rules. It must be at least 7 characters in length, but no more than 14. It must contain at least one uppercase, one lowercase, and one numeric character. For example, Fall2002 is a good password but fall2002 is not because there is no uppercase character.
When I am using my BlueNet Account on a PC on campus, can I just walk away from my computer when I am finished?
NO. LOGGING OFF OF YOUR ACCOUNT IS VERY IMPORTANT. IF YOU FAIL TO LOGOFF, YOU WILL LEAVE YOUR FILES OPEN TO THE NEXT USER WHO SITS AT THE PC YOU WERE ON.
To logoff of your account, press CTRL/ALT/DEL to bring up the Windows Security Dialog Box. Click the LOGOFF button. A Logoff Windows box will appear telling you that this will end you Windows session. Click OK to Logoff. If, for some reason, you do not want to logoff, click the Cancel button.
How do I access campus resources via CentralPipeline?
You will use your Student Computer Account to access CentralPipeline. Go to http://pipeline.ccsu.edu and enter your Username and Password. Once you have successfully entered CentralPipeline, you will see tabs across the top of the pages that will give you access to information and important resources such as course content, registration, grades, etc.
How do I save personal files on the server with my BlueNet Account (on campus)?
Students are given 10 Megabytes (10MB) of disk space on a campus server to save personal files. This space is called your “personal share” or your M: drive. This “personal share” is automatically connected to your computer when you log into your account on campus. You access this drive by opening My Computer on your desktop and searching for M: You will not be able to save files to your M: drive once you have reached your 10MB limit.
Can I access my personal files from off-campus?
Students can access their personal files via CentralPipeline from off-campus. Once you have successfully logged into CentralPipeline you will see a line on the main page that says “Web File Access”. Click on this link and provide your Computer Account name and password. All of your personal files will appear in a separate window. You can copy a file from this window to your personal desktop to modify it locally. Be sure to copy it back to the window after modification.
What are my email choices?
When a student activates a new computer account, they are given two choices. The first choice is create a CCSU mailbox. This mailbox is associated with your CCSU Computer Account. That email address is accountname@students.ccsu.edu. The second choice is to have all email forwarded to an off-campus email address (such as Yahoo, Hotmail, etc.). If a student chooses this option, anyone can send email to accountname@students.ccsu.edu and it will automatically be forwarded to that address. Students must choose one or the other, not both. If the student chooses to have email forwarded, email sent to their ccsu email address (accountname@students.ccsu.edu) is read via whatever means is used to read off-campus email.
Can I change my email preference?
Students can change their email preference at any time by accessing CentralPipeline and choosing the Account Management link from the main Pipeline page.

If I choose to have a CCSU mailbox, how do I send and read email while on-campus?When you are on campus using a computer in a classroom or lab, you will use Microsoft Outlook. Outlook allows you to work with email, calendars, task lists, etc. For further information, you should pick up a separate reference sheet in the Marcus White Microcomputer Lab.
How much email can I store in my CCSU mailbox?
You can store up to 10MB of mail in your account. In order to keep your mail quota under its limit, you should regularly delete old mail. Once you reach your limit, you will not be able to send or receive mail.
If I chose to have a CCSU mailbox, how do I send and read email when I am off-campus?
To read your account email from off-campus you must have access to the Internet with a web browser (i.e. Internet Explorer). You can access our student email web server via CentralPipeline. Go to http://pipeline.ccsu.edu and enter your Username and Password. Once you have successfully entered CentralPipeline, you will see a link on the right side of the main page that says Outlook Web Access. Click on the link and it will automatically give you access to your CCSU email.
