All CCSU students with a valid CCSU BlueNet Account (also known as a computer username/account) can have access to a web server that allows for creation of web pages that are accessible for viewing by anyone on the Internet. Students can edit their pages via a PC on-campus or off-campus via the Internet.
How do I get Web Space?
All students automatically have access to the web server when their BlueNet Account is created.
On-campus access to student web pages
- Students access their web pages on campus via the M: drive. Students will find a WWW folder inside the M: drive. All web pages files must be saved into that folder.
- The filename for the default home page must be one of the following: index.htm, index.html, default.htm or default.html.
- All files associated with the web page need to be placed on the WWW folder in the M: drive to be accessible from the Internet.
- Students can use Microsoft FrontPage XP or any other HTML editor to modify their web pages.
- Student web pages are visible at http://www.students.ccsu.edu/~username (replace username with your BlueNet ID username, making sure you type it in all lowercase letters). This link points directly to the default homepage which must be named one of the following: index.htm, index.html, default.htm or default.html.
Editing student web pages from off-campus
- Students can create and/or modify their web pages from off-campus by first making a connection to their M: drive to access to the WWW folder.
- To access the M: drive from off-campus; please refer to a separate document titled “Access to M: Drives from Off-Campus”.
Viewing student web pages
Student web pages that are placed in the WWW folder (inside the M: drive) can be viewed on the Internet from any where in the world. A web user connects to the website: http://www.students.ccsu.edu/~username (replace username with the BlueNet ID username, all in lowercase letters).
