Education & Innovation Center
The Education & Innovation Center is a joint collaboration between CCSU’s ITBD, TRIO and Elihu Burritt Library. The Center was developed to discover how to turn your creative ideas into reality and encourage students to pursue careers in Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) careers. Inter-disciplinary instructors use library research techniques, 3D Computer Aided Design tools, 3D Printing technologies, open source coding and training in entrepreneurism to guide students in learning to manage a business. Through pragmatic Educational experiences students gain insight in idea generation and transformation in the product development process. The center fosters Exploration through CCSU student, faculty and administrative engagement along with High School student interaction in exploring Innovation. STEM tools are applied through the mentor/mentee relationships to build on experience and success. Students are engaged in the Center on externally funded business projects too. On these projects students’ work cohesively with the inventor/entrepreneur or a company as problem solver to transition ideas, theories and concepts into physical objects with engineering characteristics.
