Office 365 Hosted Email

What You Need to Do to Prepare

Please review this important information as it related to the migration of your email to Office 365 hosted email.

Mac Users

OS and Office Upgrade - we highly recommend that your CCSU-owned Mac computer be updated to OS 10.10.x (Yosemite) and Office 2016 with the hosted email. The method of upgrading will depend on your current OS version (click the Apple menu then About this Mac to determine your current version):

    • OS 10.9.x and below - we will need to reimage your computer to get it to OS 10.10.x (Yosemite) and Office 2016 prior to your migration to hosted email. Visit https://hsm.ccsu.edu and complete the Apple Reimage Request to schedule your reimage and email migration.

    • OS 10.10.x - if your CCSU-owned Mac computer is already on OS 10.10.x (Yosemite), you will need to upgrade to Office 2016 prior to your migration to hosted email.  To upgrade, connect your computer to the campus wired network and then click here to download the software.

Windows Users

Understand Cached Exchange Mode -  As part of the migration to Office 365 Hosted Email, Outlook on your campus computer has been updated to Cached Exchange Mode. When in Cached Exchange Mode, a copy of your mailbox is stored on your local computer and your computer checks in to the server on a regular basis to download new items. You may adjust the amount of email that is stored on your local computer using these instructions. You may also download more items from the server at any time.

At the bottom of your list of messages, click on the link to download more items from Microsoft Exchange:

Also, when performing a search you may search for additional items on the server by clicking on the link to find more items on the server:
