New Phone System

Walk-in Support

A reminder that Walk-in Support is now located in Marcus White (entrance facing Social Sciences Hall).  Walk-in Support is an extension of the IT Help Desk and provides in-person technology support for your portable devices and more.


Sunday Maintenance Reminder

Every Sunday from 12:00 A.M. to 12:00 P.M. all systems (e-mail, Banner, wireless, etc.) will be intermittently unavailable while important maintenance and updates are performed.


Weekly Maintenance – Reminder

Please log off your computer when leaving for the day every Thursday, but do not power it off.  This will allow updates to be sent down to your computer on Friday after 12:00am.  If you turn your computer off and leave it off overnight on Thursday, shortly after turning it back on, your computer will restart in order to install and apply any updates. If you leave your computer logged in Thursday night into Friday, you may lose any unsaved data you were working on when the computer restarts.

Document Camera (Elmo) Video

Many classrooms are equipped with a document camera.  This device has many uses and can be used instead of the older overhead projectors.  If you are teaching in a room with a document camera, we hope you can spend a few minutes to watch this instructional video.  Please note: depending on the model of the instructor workstation, the document camera may be accessible through a side door on the station.


Banner Maintenance, Friday 10/7 5pm to midnight

Banner and all its integrated systems (i.e. Banner INB, WebCentral/BannerWeb, Hyperion Reporting, etc.) will be unavailable on Friday 10/7 from 5pm until midnight while maintenance is performed. In addition, Accounts Management will be unavailable from 5pm to 6pm. CentralPipeline will be available during the maintenance period for access to Blackboard, Outlook Web Mail and other online systems. 


New Macintosh Operating System – Sierra

Apple recently released a free Mac operating system update called Sierra. Please do not upgrade your CCSU-owned Mac to the new operating system at this time.  Information Technology needs to conduct testing to ensure this operating system is compatible with our network and systems.  Should you upgrade on your own and have issues, the only solution we will be able to offer is to reimage your computer back to the currently supported version.


SSN Protection in OneDrive

Information Technology will be implementing a new security feature called DLP (Data Loss Prevention) that should notify you if DCL3 data such as social security numbers are being stored in your Office 365 OneDrive account.  While no solution is foolproof, this should help to lessen the amount of sensitive data being stored in unapproved locations.


Advanced Threat Protection (ATP) – Safe Links

Information Technology will be implementing a new security feature called ATP Safe Links. Safe Links scans content in an email and rewrites the URLs to go through Office 365. The URLs are then examined in real time, at the time you click on them. If a link is unsafe, you are warned not to visit the site or informed that the site has been blocked. With Safe Links, when you hover over a link in an email, you see an expanded URL that starts with “”, which allows your web browser to route the link through Office 365 to ensure it is safe.


Teaching Station Issues?

Please be reminded that many of the teaching station components automatically turn off after 180 minutes.  This helps to prevent the equipment from overheating.  Since nearly all classes are less than 180 minutes, we strongly recommend a before you use the teaching station, to power it off and then back on again to reset the counter.  Otherwise, the system may turn off in the middle of your class.  Laminated instructions should be attached to each station.  To turn off the system, press the “Exit System” in the lower right corner and follow the prompts confirming you want to turn off the system. A Welcome screen will then appear, touch the screen to begin.

RVAC 009 and Maria Sanford rooms 101, 117, 119, 203, 212, 321 and 323 are all equipped with a TouchIT interactive display.  If you are interested in learning more about how to use the software for this system; a free, self-paced training course is available!
