IT Announcement - 5/08/2015
Sunday Maintenance Reminder
Every Sunday from 12am until 12pm all Systems (e-mail, Banner, wireless, etc.) will be intermittently unavailable while important maintenance and updates are performed.
Weekly Maintenance – Reminder
Please log off your computer when leaving for the day every Thursday, but do not power it off. This will allow updates to be sent down to your computer on Friday after 12:00am. If you turn your computer off and leave it off overnight on Thursday, shortly after turning it back on, your computer will restart in order to install and apply any updates. If you leave your computer logged in Thursday night into Friday, you may lose any unsaved data you were working on when the computer restarts.
Network Outage, Sunday May 17
On Sunday, May 17 the Information Technology Department will be extending the scheduled maintenance window to 2pm to accommodate important network updates. During this time, all systems (e-mail, Banner, wireless, etc.) will be intermittently unavailable.
With the end of the semester quickly approaching, now is the time to prep your courses for both semester’s end and for the beginning of the next. We have put together a Blackboard Learn “Prepping your Course” information sheet and are offering workshops to show you how to perform these steps.
Register today to attend workshops on Bb Learn or MS Office 2013. We offer a variety of topics.
You can also peruse the online, self-paced tutorials for both Blackboard Learn and MS Office 2013 in the Organizations@ccsu tab in Blackboard Learn. If you do not see a training session that meets your needs, please email email@example.com to schedule an individual training session.
Lynda.com Online Learning
The Information Technology Department has several licenses for Lynda.com available for use for a set period of time. Lynda is a leading online learning company offering a variety of self-paced tutorials for all experience levels to learn a new software or technology skill. Some software offerings include Adobe products such as Photoshop, InDesign, and Dreamweaver, or Microsoft Office 2013. Ever wonder what a hashtag is and how you tweet using one? Lynda offers several tutorials on Twitter. Curious how you can incorporate gamification into your course? Lynda’s got that too!
Would you like a Lynda account but don’t have time to sit at your home computer? Lynda has an iPad app for learning on the go.
iPad Lending Pool
Would you like to experiment with an iPad but are not sure you want to buy one? The Instructional Design and Technology Resource Center has an iPad lending pool for your use. You can borrow an iPad to experiment and learn new apps.
If you would like to reserve an iPad or would like more information, please contact the IDTRC at firstname.lastname@example.org.
