Diversity Scholarships

Pauline M. Alt Women’s Re-Entry Scholarship (2020B)

  • Matriculated undergraduate students at CCSU with 15 hours of earned academic credit and a minimum 3.25 cumulative grade point average.

  • Preference to women who have returned to higher education following an absence of three or more years, who have a demonstrated record of leadership in community service and in advancing issues which support the enhancement of women, who are Connecticut residents.

  • Evidence of need may be considered at the discretion of the faculty.

    Special Application Instructions:

    • Applicants shall submit an essay not to exceed 500 words on the topic:  "Leadership Through Education".

Justus Beach Scholarship (2000)

  • Assists students from economically and educationally disadvantaged backgrounds who are enrolled in one of Central Connecticut State University's teacher preparation programs.

  • Preference to applicants who are enrolled in the elementary education degree program and to students from low and moderate income families in which neither parent has earned a college degree.

Ruthe Boyea Scholarship (2050)

  • Matriculated undergraduate or graduate student with a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.0 who shows promise of outstanding academic and career potential and support for the enhancement of women.

    Special Application Instructions:

    • Applicants shall submit a statement indicating what they have done, or plan to do, for the enhancement of women.

Anna Bubser-Judd Trust Scholarship (2491)

  • Support for students from Hartford or West Hartford, Connecticut with evidence of academic achievement, community involvement, demonstrated leadership, and commitment to diversity.

  • First year students must place in the top 40% of their graduating class or have a combined SAT of 1,000 or more.

  • Transfer students must have a minimum of 30 credits and a 2.7 cumulative average.

  • Students must be enrolled full-time for the award period.

Adolfo Chavarro/Latin American Association Scholarship (3600)

  • Support for students in the Connecticut College Access Success (ConnCAS) program at CCSU or similar program affording educational access and opportunity to economically disadvantaged or educationally underprivileged students.

Educational Support Services Scholarship (2740)

  • Recipients must be enrolled in any University program aimed at providing educational access and opportunity to economically disadvantaged or educationally underprivileged students (e.g. Educational Opportunity Program, Connecticut Collegiate Awareness and Preparation Program).

Alvin B. Wood Scholarship Scholarship (2980)

  • Support for educationally disadvantaged students, particularly students admitted through the Educational Opportunity Program, CONNCAP, or similar collegiate access program.

  • Recipient may be matriculating full-time or part-time at Central Connecticut State University and must have a minimum of twenty-four (24) earned credits and a minimum cumulative grade point average of 2.8.

  • Applicants must submit evidence that they have demonstrated leadership and service to CCSU.
