Leadership & Service Scholarships

Stanislaus A. Blejwas Memorial Scholarship (2009)

  • Provides support to a currently enrolled full-time undergraduate or graduate student who demonstrates an interest in Polish issues. Preference will be given to a student enrolled in an interdisciplinary academic minor in Polish Studies or to a CCSU student who studies in Poland for a semester or a year.

    Special Application Instructions:

    • Applicants must submit a statement of not more than 250 words, detailing specifically how they have dedicated themselves to Polish scholarship and to involvement and leadership in the Polish community, and two letters of recommendation from faculty members, school counselors, or notable persons from the community.

Alpha Phi Omega Scholarship (2030)

  • Demonstrated record of service to the applicant's community and school.

  • Evidence of leadership in civic and school activities.

  • Good academic standing at either high school or collegiate level.

  • Evidence of financial need.

Michael D’Amico/Class of 1998 Scholarship (2290)

  • Full-time, matriculated undergraduate student currently studying at CCSU with demonstrated involvement and leadership in student activities.

  • Preference will be given to a student with documented efforts to finance higher education costs through full or part time employment.

Cynthia Guertin Memorial Scholarship (2411)

  • Provides funds for students who put their personal convictions, whether of faith or other deeply held value, to work in their lives in very palpable ways, and use their gifts in the service of others, whether in their families or in their larger communities.

  • Full or part-time matriculated undergraduate student currently studying at CCSU with at least 60 credits and a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.7.

    Special Application Instructions:

    • Applicants shall submit an essay of 500 - 1000 words outlining their sense of the connection between personal convictions and service to a larger community and describing the experiences they have had with such service.

    • Please provide two letters of recommendation, at least one of which must be from a member of the CCSU faculty or staff, describing specifically how they meet the scholarship criteria.

Abraham F. Kotkin Scholarship (2540)

  • Matriculated undergraduate student who is a resident of New Britain with a minimum of 45 semester hours of earned academic credit at the University and a cumulative grade point average of at least 2.75.

  • Applicant must present evidence of exemplary involvement in civic and community service activities which promote the City of New Britain and enhance the life in the New Britain community.

  • Evidence of need may be considered at the discretion of the faculty.

    Special Application Instructions:

    • Applicants shall submit an essay not to exceed 500 words on the topic:  "Personal Growth Through Education."

Rev. Robert Lord Trust Scholarship (2560)

  • Support for students who have demonstrated exemplary involvement in campus and community service activities which enhance student life and promote the development of human talent, mutual understanding and respect, personal wellness and healthy life-styles, spiritual growth, and substance abuse education and prevention.

David Ross Scholarship (2820)

  • Awarded to the undergraduate student(s) named as the Outstanding Volunteer of the Year at the Student Organizations Recognition Program.

    Special Application Instructions:

    • Since this scholarship is automatically awarded to the recipient of the Outstanding Volunteer Award, applications are not accepted for this scholarship.

SGA Scholarship (2825)

  • Support for a full-time matriculated undergraduate student who has demonstrated exemplary involvement and leadership in the University community and who has earned a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0.

    Special Application Instructions:

    • Applicants must submit an essay on the topic:  "What was one of your major accomplishments that has or will affect the campus community, and why you believe you should receive this scholarship".

Unity Lodge/New Britain Freemasons Scholarship (2865)

  • Support for a full-time matriculated undergraduate student who has earned 30 credits and a minimum GPA of 2.8.

  • Applicants must possess the following attributes:  tolerant and respectful of the opinions of others; behave with kindness and understanding toward others; practice charity; dedicated to the development of high moral character and good citizenship; demonstrate qualities of service, leadership, and academic achievement.

    Special Application Instructions:

    • Applicants must submit a statement specifically describing how they meet the above listed attributes.
