THE  SCHOOL OF GRADUATE STUDIES

The School of Graduate Studies at Central Connecticut State University was established in 1955.  Graduate enrollment is approximately 2,500. The University offers graduate programs leading to the degrees of Master of Science, Master of Arts, Master of Arts in Teaching, to Sixth Year Certificates in Reading and in Educational Leadership and an Ed. D. in Educational Leadership. The University also offers a number of non-degree graduate-level programs leading to teacher certification and certificates for professional enhancement. New programs for professional advancement are always being reviewed for inclusion in graduate study.  Each year, the University awards graduate degrees to approximately 600 students, with an additional 200 students completing teacher certification.

The School of Graduate Studies at CCSU is ambitious in its approach to graduate programs, as evidenced by its pursuit of professional accreditation.  The School of Education & Professional Studies, where two-thirds of matriculated graduate students enroll, has been accredited by the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE) at the advanced level as well as the basic level.  The School also has been accredited by the American Association of Marriage & Family Therapy.  The School of Arts & Sciences’ program in Biological Sciences: Anesthesia is accredited by the Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia.  In addition, individual programs in each of the schools seek their own professional accreditation. CCSU graduate programs can help you to enrich your mind, advance your career, or even prepare for a new profession.
